The objects of the JANASREE are:
- To find and develop avenues of voluntary service for the citizens of India:
- To promote national sufficiency and to build up the economic strength of the country.
- To promote the social and moral well-being of the community and to mitigate the privations and hardships of its less favoured sections.
- To find out the available unused time, energy and other resources of the people and direct them into various fields of social and economic activity.
- To take all steps which are necessary for’ the fulfillment of the aforesaid objects.
Priciples
The organization and the activities of the JANASREE shall confirm for the following principles:- A common platform for the service of the nation will be provided, irrespective of caste, creed or political belief or affiliation.
- Any use of the organization for developing political enemity or communal hatred will be strictly forbidden.
- The principle of decentralization will be applied to the utmost extent, the basic unit for the purpose of administration being a Mandalam or compact locality in a town, care will be taken to secure full play for the initiative and enthusiasm of the people in each local area. Control and direction of the work of the work of the sangoms will be exercised only for the purpose of co-ordination, efficiency and economy.
- Every endeavor will be made to secure the full co- ordination and collaboration between the JANASREE and the official or non-official agencies working in the same field.
- Funds required for the activities in any particular area will be collected in that area, as far as possible.
- The principle of self-help and co-operation will be applied and developed as fully as possible in the activities organized by the JANASREE. Community Centers will be established wherever possible and organizations or producers as consumers will be encouraged to give expression to this principle in every aspect of Group life.
Functions
The JANASREE will render assistance-

- In the formation and strengthening of Self Help Groups and by way of remaining as:
- Powerful instrument to combat misery and poverty in the society.
- By providing access to small savings to the people living in poverty, succeeds in generating productive development.
- Effective tool in freeing people from the bondage of poverty.
- Increasing participation of the poor people in the main stream economic and political process of the society.
- To undertake Self Help Group activities as a major theme.
- To undertake the responsibility of uplifting the dignity of women thorugh concrete policies in their favour.
- In restoring and improving the social health of the community by;
- Building up standards of honesty in public conduct, public administration and business relations;
- Creating a Social atmosphere conductive to the observance of such standard.
- Creating a Social atmosphere conductive to the observance of such standard.
- In creating social awareness among the people with regard to conditions and problems, and their own obligation, and the need for unity, tolerance and mutual help.
- In conducting campaigns and in the adoption of practical measures:-
- For the conservation and best utilization of the public and private resources;
- For promoting the practice of economy in the various spheres of country’s life;
- For detecting and rooting out waste and inefficiency in the nation’s activities.
- For the general adoption of the practice of austerity:
- For creating ‘maximum savings to promote productive activity.
- For improving the existing facilities of providing additional facilities with regard to health and fitness, education,recreation,rural development, community organization, co-operative, production, distribution and cottage industries;
- For the collection of useful information regarding the economic and social life of the people through social surveys and investigations.
- in construction work, including irrigation projects, and housing and rehousing of slum dwellers, specially those which have a social value, such as slum improvement, development and clearance, drainage and irrigation work in rural areas and flood protection works, and in repair work.
- in training programmes and in organising and conducting students and youth, labour and social service work camps and follow-up activities as well as organizing seminars and training camps.
- in engaging in agricultural operations and generally helping in the “grow more food” activity.
- the JANASREE may itself undertake activities in furtherance of any of the aforesaid objects,and for carrying on its function may :
- Accept bequests, donations, gifts, or other transfers of any property;
- All these powers may be exercised by the Central Executive or by some persons as may be appointed in any particular case by the Central Executive to exercise any of these powers.
- To draw up an educational policy incorporating reforms which subserves nations’s economic and social goals like meeting man-power demands, encouraging modern attitudes, bringing together diverse groups and providing economic opportunities for the poor.
- To reorganize sports and gymnastic activities in the countryside drawing all age groups in to different forms of sports and games and health building activities.
- To take steps to enrich and develop cultural and art form of every linguistic, literary and minority group so that there is an all round growth and revitalisation of the Indian culture
- To streamline the existing health care services and to conduct a massive non formal education campaign which will note only emphasize the prospective and promotive aspects of health care but also educate the masses in areas such as environmental sanitation, personal hygiene and healthy habits.
- To design low cost houses which combine attractiveness, essential living space, strength and security along with simplicity which would make use of housing materials available in the locality so as to minimize cost of construction.
- To promote research in building technology and local building materials.
- To draw a time bound programme for the upliftment of scheduled castes and tribes in education, health, housing and public services with a view to bringing them to the national mainstream through proper social education and community work.
- To promote the development of appropriate technology and facilitate technology transfer through motivating science and technology personnel available in the country in large numbers.
- To ensure active participation in all development activities enunciated by the State and Central Governments like the Five-Year Plans, Twenty-Point Programme and such other schemes which may be enunciated by the State and Central Governments from time to time.
- To construct and maintain building including alterations , improvements and equipments to the buildings.
- To manage, sell, transfer, or enter into other kind of disposals of any property belonging to the JANASREE.
- To enter into contracts for any other purposes of the JANASREE.
- To institute and maintain libraries.
- To institute fellowships and award them to deserving scholars and persons of professional attainments.
- To publish pamphlets and periodicals and other literature relating to culture and development;
- To undertake the documentation of important literature on development issues.
- To work in the closest collaboration possible with Central and State Government Agencies, Universities, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, State and Central Financing Institution and Banks engaged in the pursuit of all or any of the above objects; and.
- To do all such things and perform all such acts as may be necessary or appropriate for the achievement of any or all of above objects.
Membership
There shall be following classes of membership:- Any person who has attained the age of 18 years, sings the prescribed membership form and pledges and offers to devote at least two hours a week to voluntary work in furtherance of the activities of the JANASREE, undertakes to abide by the Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations of the JANASREE and pays an annual membership fee of Rs.10/- shall be eligible to become a member.
- Institutional Members: Institutions engaged in social welfare or constructive work which agrees to collaborate and associate themselves in the work of the JANASREE, on the basis of its Constitution and pay an annual membership fee as decided by the Central Executive from time to time may be enrolled as Institutional Members.
- Associate Member: Any person who agrees to volunteer his services to the JANASREE occasionally or for a special purpose may be enrolled as “Associate Member”.
